Before I start writing about driving experiences I want to focus on what driving actually is – my trusted source, Wikipedia states that “driving is the controlled operation and movement of a land vehicle, such as a car, truck or bus”. Remember the word “controlled” when reading about the types of driving experiences that are out there. You will soon discover that this definition does not apply to motor sports.

I was also curious about the first ever road trip made in a car. “The world’s first long distance road trip by automobile took place in Germany in August 1888 when Bertha Benz, the wife of Karl Benz, the inventor of the first patented motor car (the Benz Patent-Motorwagen), travelled from Mannheim to Pforzheim (a distance of 60 miles or 106 km) in the third experimental Benz motor car (which had a maximum speed of 10 mph) and back, with her two teenage sons Richard and Eugen but without the consent and knowledge of her husband”. It looks like the most dangerous aspect of this trip was that she did it without her husbands’ knowledge but now days driving experiences are dangerous for a whole lot of other reasons.

Today, people are indulging in many forms of adventure – they seek out thrilling experiences in order to feel that surge of adrenalin and to feel their hearts racing. I am sure that once you experience something like quad biking you are more than likely going to want to take it one step further and maybe even do a F1 self-drive. Driving experiences are a great way to get your dose of excitement but it is by no means as “controlled” as I would like it to be.

Celestial Gift Experiences have a wide range of motor sports available. From a VW Skidpan Driving Course, SuperCar Self-Drive Experiences and Audi Advanced Driving to Audi High Performance Driving, Outdoor Karting, Off-Road Motorcycle School experience, F1 Self-Drive, Harley Davidson Pillion, a Rally Self-Drive, a Rally Hot Lap, 4X4 Basic Skills and Ducati Pillion Riding. I am intrigued by these but not as interested as others might be.

I might be willing to try out the Outdoor Karting because for some reason the term “karting” sounds safer and I would possibly try the Off-Road Motorcycle School experience but that is about it. Anything else looks far too dangerous and even though thousands have done it before me, and survived, I know that I will personally not enjoy it. I will be too busy worrying and the actual experience will be wasted on me – the more daring of these driving experiences are for those with a real passion for speed and excitement.

It is amazing to think how far we have come. From the days where it was astounding to see a woman and her two sons drive 106km in a car, to the point where we are now, where we need to see someone drive so fast that you can barely see them in order for any eyebrows to be raised.
